i just wonder if any here from an area, say within 100 miles of fort wayne indiana interested in getting a small informal group together?

i have not been able to find any xjws in my immediate area.

i have gone to the meetup sites - still nothing.

2-3-2005 Head Librarian's office - I know you must have been besieged with this request, but hope you will bear with and answer just one more time. I am researching the connection of The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society's NGO/DPI status with the United Nations from 1992 through 2001. Statements have been issued by that society that the purpose of the affiliation, from their standpoint, was access to the Dag Hammarskjold Library materials. I have private information that seems to contradict that statement, to the effect that library access [prior to the tragedies of 9-11-2001] was in no way connected with NGO/DPI status with the United Nations. Can you confirm for me the policies in place for access to the library prior to 9-11? Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter.

The procedure for a library pass is the following: the interested party
needs to fill out an application form and supply a letter of recommendation
in support of the research. If the required material is not available in a
UN depository library (the list of depository libraries is posted at:
http://www.un.org/depts/dhl/deplib/countries/), the application is approved
and sent to UN Security. UN Security checks the application and, if
approval is granted, instructs the Pass Office to issue a library pass for
the applicant.

The issuance of a library pass is independent of NGO status or any other
status. There was no change in the library pass policy until 2001. As a
consequence of the September 11 attacks, the issuance of library passes has
been suspended.

I just cannot agree with that point of view. Although you are certainly allowed yours.

This scandal would have taken my wife and I out without hesitation had it been the only thing we had ever heard. We were at the point that we heard of it - about the time of the UN press release - in the process of a healthy 'fade'. But if we had been tight to the center, and heard of this, and seen proof, I think we would have left without fail. How can it be explained away in light of the condemnatory spirit that the witness organization has used against the UN for 50 years?

I have a relative, just DF'd, anxious to get reinstated. I confronted her with this, since she will talk to me in the current state of affairs - her first response was "If this is not the truth - where to we go?" This information is not like beating a dead horse - it is like spiritual CPR to those intoxicated with the 'truth'. I hope we can use it to full to release as many as will come out of the cult.

As far as I can see, this guy is little more than a 'Bowen basher' - and some others have empowered him by comments that criticize Bowen.

I am sure that Bill Bowen is no saint. He may indeed have some traits personally that would not be pleasing to some, but why would some here wish to attack him and harmonize with the idiot, 'proud brother', that spewed the obvious trash he wrote.

Nothing that this guy stated has any impact on the quality of Bowen's site - or the need for the issues he deals with to be in an open and public forum.

Those who enter into the same court as this guy, by criticizing or attacking Bill's financial status, or real purpose in maintaining SL, are foolish. While we do not know the particulars of those matters - we do know the reasons behind his efforts, how he got railroaded, and what he sacrificed to get this issue out in view.

I do not view him as a hero - but I applaude his efforts as heroic!

As for the balance of 'proud brother's' diatribe, it is clear he has no more knowledge of the Biblical languages that I do. He just defends the organization due to the same level of brainwashing that many of us labored under not too long ago.

I feel sorry for his bondage - I hope he sees thru the fantasy soon.

Like most on this board, I know the story, have seen the UN press release, ect. But can someone comment on two questions for me?

Who caught them with their hands in the cookie jar? How did that info get out, and was it revealed in any widespead journalistic outlets that can be referenced?

Any insight into why they did such a thing as that? Seems unbelievable that they did so - although i know they did - and it was one of the main components to my leaving and never going back [we were on the way out- but this clinched it for sure - I just cannot concieve of any good reason for doing so. I know the excuse was circulated that it was to use the library - and we all know that was a lie - but why did they really do it? Was there money to be tapped? Did they actually tap some of it?

Any insights or direction here?

How about Dayton? That would prob be about 4 hours for us from here though I would not mind the drive. If there would be more in that area - we used to go there for district assemblies. This would be better!!!

Snubbed by an eldub

haven't been in the door of a khall in nearly a year and haven't had one visit from any of my old elder "buddies?".

did have two newer eldub idiots stop by about two months after i stopped completely.

told them that if they were there to complain and bitch then they might as well get their fat asses down the drive and not come back.. ran into a eldub that i served on the body with last weekend, he completely ignored me even when i acknowledged his existence.

I have left about a year back - but not one soul at the hall knows the reasons why.Yet, when my Mom died last summer, her funeral was boycotted by the entire witness community, less one elder that I personally invited to come. It was the most painful ostacism I can imagine. Between my wife, my dead inactive mother, and I, we had over 165 years of association with this congregation, none of us out of good standing officially. That is the nature of the 'conditional love' these people have.

This must have qualified as the greatest shunning of all time for one who was never DA'd, DF'd or ever even counseled. It is a 'shunning' based on just gossip!!! And guess who started that gossip? Must of been those wonderful 'spirit appointed men of God' the elders. Whodathunk that?
